March 25, 1975 Tuesday Brad's 21st birthday.   Looked all day for deer for cake!   Found them 4 days later in the clear plastic pitcher on yellow counter where I had put them until I got another as one I brought from trailer was too small over it.   I was drying a plastic bag so I didnt see it.   Looked everywhere in house for hours from 9 - 230.   Started cake then.   His parents came as I was waiting for cream filling to cool.   I had broken plastic knife trying to get cake out.  Brad n G had to go to meeting at hospital.   I left last minute 815 to get candles, cards for on gifts, 2 ice cream, napkins, candles.   Got back 9.   They were there.   B gave him last minute a tool he had.   Rick n Eddie blew balloons and hung them from chair and I gave him the suit and Eddie gave him lasagna tray.   It was a Boston cream cake with butter cream chocolate frosting, yellow letters from tub.   21 candles, blue figures.

Monday, March 24, 1975.   Eddie didn't wake till 0830 then back 2 sleep because of last in line Sunday, me up too.  up again for good 0930.  Rained all day.   I did more dishes from yesterdays dinner so Eddie didn't go

Sunday, March 23, 1975, cloudy, all got up 830.   Palm Sunday.  Rick went up to try for baby's white outfit in my bottom drawer in bedroom.  I bought it (bargain center) couple years ago.   Think before Angel was born.  He also got Eddie's blue shirt.  We got drenched went without break, Sara already at church for James baptism.  She put jacket on.  She had on lace jacket over blue/white print dress.  Brad came just as i was taking gingerbread out, so brad, g n eddie friend, david.   I hid gingerbread to cool.  Then eddie went to davids grandmothers on phelps street. Brad n G worked on dune buggy.  I did dishes, got roast beef for dinner.  They left me none.  Eddie watched jacob joseph on tv.  Went to bed at 11.  I did dishes all evening.  Body real tired.   Fell asleep with arm on stove from 12-1230.  then to bed.   Used good plates for 1st time on kitchen table.  G had a 21st bday party 4 brad last nite, she made him a blue and white shirt.

Saturday, March 22, 1975  They went to diner.   I got up 11.   cloudy rain.  I did papers to get ready to go.   We left 230.   To Tegos, had dogs, pie.   Looked for Buelahs, bridget's address.   He didnt go slow enough. To grossmans got yellow paint for mailbox.   He stopped to tell his mother I couldnt have them Sunday (tomorrow) because of James' baptism.   Rick fixed Eddie's bike, made a robbot.   To PC for groceries, to Perry.   Took Purple closet in cellar but material too torn, spiders (mine dirty) 2 cupcake tins, flag, laundry off line, home 7.   Put groceries away.   Did enough dishes to have soup n sandwiches at 800.   Eddie brought me in daffadols for Mother's day.   In pm I left to call Sara to tell her, I called baptism to come tomorrow.  I couldn't get in.

Very cold.  We walked. 710.  no ride with Becker ,Rossback, Heises pulled up.   Virginia gave me ride.  They took Ella to dentist.  Took us home.  Jerko left me even what happened last nite on the porch.

March 16, 1965 Saturday Rick picked us up AM.  Got rug for horses door.  Sara to church class for 1st.  He took me to work 800.   Got ride with Kippie then home no one there.

Friday, March 15, 1965 (yes, 10 years earlier)   this was posted in her diary.  Very cold 10 below.  Brad walked alone.   Girls stayed home.  First friday I wasn't scheduled.  They came 1200 for us.  To Glov first, Susan had bows replaced.  Didn't go out.  To sleep 1200.  Ella broke front teeth.  Washed hair.

Friday, March 14, 1975  Took Eddie all way, then mailed Ella in PO.  She has been gone 1 week day after tomorrow, but I got a letter from her Tuesday.  2 more kittens were born when i got up after11 am.  One was like her and another black.  Dishes 3 hrs! to do beds,  few daily changed, cats bed, got mail, clean toilet.  Cloudy, didnt even prepare anything to eat.  Eddie cried because Chaney wasn't here when went to school.  Suppose to go to hospital for blood test. R woke us up at 6 but me too tired.  To bed 0100.

Thursday, March 13,1975  Had to lie down 930 -1145.  Hurried to get ready to leave but couldn't till 245 (3hrs) didnt even prepare anything eat.  To meco to see if cub scouts cancelled.  It wasnt so I waited.  Eddie made kite n bird feeder.  Sunny, mild but rained n snowed am.  We took things home, then took fur coat to Goulds.  Fur pulled apart.got cookies, ate.  To police station to pay (eddie took it in) fine ($5) because didnt pay within 24 hrs. To Spring st for dinner, State st to get Eddie bed just in time for "Sunshine"  Finished letter to Ella.

Monday, March 10, 1975 Cold, windshield frosted.   Tired 930 -11.   Washed 3 white hobmail goblets, 2 gold trimmed plates, sheer dessert dishes (clear pink) a small round cut glass.  They were in plastic bags in top kitchen cupboard.   Had toast  n cocoa.  hurried to derby office, closed.got moneygram for 3/$1.00. socks.  Durkees for paint for dining room.   To martha's on arlington ave, buy flowered card table I saw in Montgomery wards, gone but got small table just like it and fit in State , beat Rick.  Got made potatoes started in Fri stew.   Eddie had bath hair washed.

Sunday, March 9, 1975  Eddie and I to church.   I went in 1-2 grades.  Eddie had choir 1st time.   Gave Ella money for her school pics.  This too from  md work. I break.   Very cold, sunny.   They got  alblum went 5 year which we were in church at 1, eddie and rick went snowmobile.   I made apple kucher (no good recipe) , scalloped potatoes, ham.   Under duress, he mended a few (belt loops on jacket)   I slept with him.   I went late.   Eddie slept on couch.

Tuesday, March 4, 1975 Eddie, I were walking but Dyyettes offered ride to city.  My car on Perry St but I planned to walk to call Brad as I sent a note with Rick that I would.  I laid down 830-1130, cold.   Worked to get ready b4 Eddie came home.  He didnt want 2 go so I did more things, I was ironing Rick's shirts 5 till he came.  We went right away 2 Perry St, I got car.   I handed him Tiles and he got organ.  I got bottom hooks, he got rice and on way home I put tiles on China Closet.   After eating no time to do anything.  Eddie right to sleep at 930.  He built fire, supper time = not in long time.  I fell asleep 12 - 1230 to bed 230.  Slept with Eddie first, also brought goblet from plywood cabinet was in the vases.  Eddie bought box of chalk.

Monday, March 3, 1975  Cold all day.   I shut off Eddie's light when I went to bed last nite.   He woke 7; saw it was off went back sleep till 10.   I got up 11.   He went out to play at 3 Rick  lifted bad dishes from pantry, put up ella's pink shower curtain and carried her blue rug to my room.

Friday, February 28, 1975 took Eddie to corner.  Supposed to go to cake class  but soooo tired.  Laid down 9-10.  Took Candy for 11 appt johnstown next to police station for hair.  I was up till 445 then up again at 7. Out of hair at 330.  made mac n cheese. we ate. Rick came by 6 to find out about syracuse.  We talked about benny. Rick and Eddie to diner then Spring.  I called Wood about it.  Couldnt get Spring or Lomanto.  Rick wouldnt eat it because I kept after him to mend.   I fell asleep couch. slept all night 1st in weeks.

February 27, 1975 Thursday, Up at 3 am. made cornbread. took eddie school. had to sleep 1030 - 245 again telephone 345. He came, Eddie went.  I went 630.  Wished I'd gone. mac hamburg.   She called it goolosh.   Went Brooster. me chili, eddie pudding.   a & P couldnt find purse.  Back Brooster, not there. (inside of car) state 915 Rick came drunk.   Rick vent about me not pulling in drive.   Wouldn't you know he'd be that type when drunk.

Monday, February 24, 1975 I was up. Rick hadnt got up by 615 so called him.   Dark this am because daylight saving started Sat nite.  Took Eddie to school as I let him sleep.

Sunday, February 23, 1975 First time back to Fremont.  Looking for an excuse especially with centennial when I should be going on annual of my g'father founding the church. So, good enough, the good lord gave me idea few weeks ago of combining Eddie's love of energy with getting him in choir, good lord had n edwards put in an article in Courier which would have made my mothers heart happy.   It was about helping in Sunday School which is where I want to be because of Grandpa T.  I was very tired getting up(asleep 12) up 9. Tired all day which I haven't been after getting over flu. No choir so we sat in Jeffer's 3rd grade.  First eddie been Fremont SS since moving to 1st room after nursery.  Rick wouldnt do anything all day, so not let him have mush soup.   He fried ham, eggs, slept till 7.   Got Eddie ready for bed, shampoo and bath.   He bed 730.  I stayed up all night, had toast n cocoa.

Saturday, Feb 22, 1975 Writing Sunday night. Since I went bed 5, I got up 11. beautiful day. Brad came help us move at 12 (he wouldnt tell me thursday what time so I said I wasn't ready so he said be back 230 and he was.  appt in am about furnace.  took cart brad wanted,  I let him have gun holster-slicker he found, took cab.

Friday, Feb 21, 1975 Mild, sunny, Ernie had hot cereal.   State st first then school.  State to get ready for cake class.   There 930 at y cost 5 for y members, 5 for classes is 12 more for teacher.   Then bank, houghton wasnt there so to Mrs wiggins (1stinyrs) then bank,woods.had 2 wait out 3, ins off couldnt find hosp form emergency rm coal gas, church, rev brockway coming out so i asked him if he put that in courier (ss) he didnt but nila edw did. state. k kilhman came on donahue, ernie, i left for c finkle, rick came wouldnt go 4 pancakes 2 fremont, i went, called n. edwards, nice left at 5 for centennial  tony c with clock (marble) to irene's state at 9 bed 5.

Thursday, Feb 20 1975 Milk, Eddie got bus. Since I was up till Rick went to work, I slept 830 -145.  Eddie didnt go scouts because he thought I would come usual time - 430.  He's cruel- Yikes -I got ready, made birdsnest.  left 430 with eddie to Y with membership money, I pd cake decr class ( I had called a year ago suggested there should be a class) To Post Office mail jan's valentine, Ella letter, get gas by telephone company, A & P for apples for birdsnest pudding ... up N Bush Road Eddie didnt know he wanted to go to Spring St, when he found out he k, very good reception, wish gma knew, hot dogs, left over, choc cake. I finished birdsnest pudding, nice time.

Disclaimer, I have changed the names to protect the living innocent.  As u open the Diary, mom's  name appears along with her address.   The next page says "Five Year Diary"  As written "the previous page was written when sara, brad and ella were little and we lived in log house, before eddie was born.   This page was written June 5, 1975 after I have been keeping this diary since Feb 20, 1975.   I dont know who wrote my name - Rick or the children.

Several years ago we cleaned out my moms house and I found her diary for a specific period.   My mom loved to write and she wrote on everything:   Newspapers, envelopes.   It was special that I found this diary as I had never seen her write in a specific diary.   I have been wanting to transcribe the diary.   Starting tomorrow, I will begin transcribing the diary and tell you a story of my mom and her life with her son and husband.  Please join me everyday.   cg
